Step into your own slice of forest paradise. As soon as you open the front door, you’re greeted with views through to the west-facing garden—your private outdoor sanctuary that glows in the evening light. Settle by the fire pit, listen to the stream, and watch the trees sway in the breeze.

Inside, the space is compact and cleverly designed, offering everything you need for a relaxing stay. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area is fully stocked with the essentials, including an oven, hob, under-counter fridge freezer, and all cookware and cutlery.

The bedroom features a luxurious king-size bed with a handcrafted wooden headboard. French doors open directly from the bedroom onto the deck and garden, allowing you to wake up to peaceful forest views and the calming sounds of nature—perfect for a morning tea or slow start to the day.

This is our on-grid option, ideal for guests who love nature but prefer modern comforts. You'll have access to reliable heating and Wi-Fi, so you can stay connected or work remotely if needed.

Tastefully decorated in natural tones with bespoke wooden features, the interior reflects the surrounding landscape and invites total relaxation.

Though this cabin is located beside the hosts’ home and is slightly less secluded than our off-grid options, the benefit is easy access, adjacent parking, and total privacy once you’re inside. Step out into the garden and you’ll feel like you’re the only ones around.

Guests are welcome to relax in all of our outdoor space. The garden is part veggies, part garden, part wilderness. Feel free to explore and scramble round the surrounding woodland, perfect for well behaved doggies. There is a fire pit and outdoor seating on the private deck. Parking is adjacent to the cottage is a area shared with the host.

We left London 7 years ago to create a more sustainable life connected with nature. We have put our heart, soul, time and savings into creating this wild getaway. Each site feels so personal to us and we have gradually built it over time. We hope you love it as much as we do.

Far out of the city, down the winding roads of the North Yorks Moors National Park, into a hidden valley and amongst the trees sits The Lazy T. Surround your self in nothing but nature and let the babbling brook carry your cares away.

Stay local and soak up beautiful walks with personalised maps from the door, to Rievaulx Abbey or The Owl at Hawnby. There's also bike hire from Sutton bank and the chocolate box town of Helmsley is 5 miles away. Guided foraging walks are available from the host

We’re tucked away in a peaceful corner of North Yorkshire, so a little bit of planning goes a long way.

Most people join us by car. Parking is situated 30m from the cabin.

By train:

From London, it’s around 2 hrs 10 mins on the mainline to Thirsk. From there, we recommend pre-booking a taxi to the property.

Alternatively, you can take a slightly quicker train (about 1 hr 50) from King’s Cross to York, and hire a car from Enterprise in the station.

Please note:

There’s no public bus service directly to the property, so taxi or car hire is essential if you're not driving.

There is a bus from York to Helmsley, but it's a taxi ride from there (5.5 miles)
